NetKnights Releases privacyIDEA 3.14 with Conditional Access, a “Remember Me” Feature, and a New Web UI

Kassel, October 8, 2026 The IT security company NetKnights has released version 3.14 of its multi-factor authentication software, privacyIDEA. The new version adds the Conditional Access feature to the authentication process, allowing administrators to define rules for automatic actions to unusual login attempts. The “Remember Me” feature reduces the need to repeatedly enter the second factor on known devices within a configurable time period. In addition, the new WebUI, featuring a customizable dashboard, becomes the default interface.

Conditional Access: Automatically Respond to Suspicious Login Attempts

With Conditional Access, privacyIDEA 3.14 introduces an additional layer of security that allows administrators to define rules for automatically responding to suspicious login attempts. Depending on the configuration, user accounts can be locked for a specified period of time, requests from specific IP addresses can be blocked, or notifications can be sent to the affected user accounts. A dedicated authentication log provides precise reasons for errors and shows how many times a user has attempted to log in. Administrators specify which events within a given time period trigger which actions. This allows suspicious login attempts to be detected and potential attacks to be mitigated early on.

Remember-Me feature: Fewer repeated logins on trusted devices

The new “Remember Me” feature allows users to enter their second factor only once on trusted devices within a specified time period, rather than having to re-enter it every time they log in. This reduces the number of times the second factor is requested and makes logging in easier in everyday use. This feature requires that multi-factor authentication has been successfully completed beforehand. Administrators can enable the feature via policy and set the desired validity period. Users decide for themselves whether they want to save a device. Saved devices are visible to administrators and can be revoked at any time.

New WebUI as the standard interface

From version 3.14 onward, the new WebUI is the default interface for privacyIDEA. The new WebUI offers both administrators and help desk staff a customizable dashboard with a centralized overview of deployed tokens as well as all components and subscriptions in use. In addition, the new WebUI displays the status of certificates for connected systems, providing at a glance whether communication with the connected systems is proceeding without issues. Features such as Conditional Access are available exclusively in the new WebUI.

All other changes are listed in detail in the changelog on GitHub. All privacyIDEA components are also being further developed there under the leadership of NetKnights GmbH as open-source software licensed under the AGPLv3.
