NetKnights Unconference 2024: Making time together for the important topics
Once a year, we consciously take time to talk about important topics together as a team – because we work both in Kassel and remotely in some cases.
This year, our trip took us to Hohenroda, where we stayed in a small castle for three days. This environment provided the perfect setting for our unconference and allowed us to focus on the various topics without any distractions.
The special thing about such an unconference is that the participants decide the topics and agenda themselves. This allowed our team to proactively choose which topics to discuss.
After our arrival on Wednesday, we went straight into the creative brainstorming phase. Everyone had the opportunity to contribute their ideas and requests and vote for the topics. In the evening, we then created a schedule for the upcoming days, which ensured that all the desired topics were given sufficient space for discussion.
At the same time, the other part of the NetKnights team took care of the culinary part of the evening. They were busy chopping and barbecuing, so that we were able to end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere.
After collecting and voting on topics on Wednesday, we started discussing the selected topics on Thursday. The interdisciplinary exchange between our colleagues was particularly exciting and valuable.
We are currently 13 colleagues in the Development, Consulting, IT Administration, Support, Sales and Marketing departments. This enabled us to think outside the box of our own department and provide input on topics that we are less confronted with on a daily basis. This open exchange enabled us to gain new perspectives, develop ideas and find solutions together.
A wonderful side effect was that we were able to spend several days together as a team.
After all, not all NetKnights employees work from Kassel: We are located all over Germany and even in France. This allowed us to get to know our colleagues from a different angle – including hidden cooking and table tennis skills!
These shared experiences strengthened our team spirit and created a precious foundation for even better collaboration in everyday life.
In addition to the fun and entertaining moments, we took away many valuable ideas for our day-to-day work.
We are already looking forward to the next unconference and are excited about the new ideas and insights it will bring.
